Spring had sprung, and so have the reptiles… time for a reptile survey!
March sees the start of the reptile survey season, with key surveys months during April, May and September.
If you have scrub, rough grassland or log piles within your site, then you may need surveys to determine if your site supports reptiles. Species most commonly encountered include slow-worms, common lizards and grass snakes, with adders also present in some areas. If you have these species on your site, they will need to be protected from harm, as per the relevant legislation and guidance.
